"An Axe To Grind" ~Y~Horror Huckleberry~ |
...Legends have a funny way of never going away...
They say in the great woods of the deepest darkest spot in Maryland, a poor old lumberjack named Will had been chopping wood as winter was approaching. he had tied the last of the giant bundles and harnassed it into the back of his truck along with the others.
Night was calling as he started his ol' pick-up truck and headed off to get his wife and daughter from a nearby lodgeing resort in which his wife had worked as a cleaning lady.
As he reached the resort to his astonishment, the great lodge was engulfed in flames!
Quickly, he ran as fast as he could to the enterence which was completey blocked off by fallen floor beams and electrical wires sparking everywhere. He somehow found a super-human strength within him and abolished these heavy boards to the ground, as he did so he could hear the cries of the patrons trapped inside....
He managed to clear an opening by wedging his body between the floor and what was left of the door (the heat of the flames grew to new heights as he painfuly did so). He shouted loud and told everyone to run!
"Women and children first!" was heard... Soon they all had made it out. All except his wife and daughter however!
"Lydia!!!"... "Shelly!!!" He cried out, "Has anyone seen my beloved wife and daughter??" He added in turmoil. Next, screams were heard coming from the top floor, wretched screams of agony and death!
The survivors that he had just saved huddled together as they began to back away. "Will not anyone help me get to them?" he whisked out from his chest...not a word in reply.
He "cursed" at them as he made his way inside, "flames popping and *snapping*"... with the last of his breath he made it to the top floor. It was too late. They were insinged and horrilbly charred surrounded in flames "only hell could look so worse", his daughter still strapped close in her mommies arms now of soot and ash.
At this, Will made his way to a giant axe in a fire case (go figure) He struck it open and wielded it tight in his burning hand. An insane grin came across his face as he too caught fire (though he did not scream)...The floor gave way and Will found himself in flames on the bottom level now. he got up, simply brushed himself off and walked out into the night holding close his trusty Axe...
He stagered towards the cowards that did not help him, though he had saved their lives, with still the smoke arising from his brutally burned flesh and ash left existence, he reached the Axe high into the air as he shouted loud enough for the whole world to hear... "I Shall Get My Revenge, My Pain Will Forever Un-End...Yes, If You Run You Can't Hide...'Cause I've Got An Axe To Grind!"
With that said he began to hack and chop away at everyone in sight! bodies dipatched, heads, torsos, hands, feet, everywhere blood goes! (and some places blood should not be)
When the fire department finally showed up and astonished at what was seen, they tried to call for back up, but before they did, Will "Axed" them all, and fled into the dark woods....never again to be seen....
.... Until
... they rebuilt the great lodge!

A spooky story and like Amers said, "gruesome" with all the flames a popping and 'snapping' too. I liked it. |
